(Bloomberg) -- South African beef and veal production rose to the highest in at least 25 years in 2006 as the increasing wealth of the country's black majority boosted consumption.
Farmers delivered 763,900 metric tons of the meat to the market, a 14 percent increase on 2005, the Pretoria, South Africa-based Department of Agriculture said on its Web site. Imports of beef and veal climbed 4.8 percent to 65,000 tons.
