LA port clerks submit "last, best and final" offer

(Reuters) - "I'm not optimistic at all about it," said John Fageaux,
president of the 930-member Local 63 of the Marine Clerks
Association of the International Longshore Warehouse Union.




Stephen Berry, lead negotiator for the shipping companies,
said they were considering the clerks' offer and had committed
to getting back to them by Tuesday. He said the shippers also
submitted an offer to the union on Saturday.

RBS-led group launches 71 bln euro ABN takeover

(Reuters) - A consortium led by Royal Bank of Scotland said on Friday it had formally launched its 71.1 billion euro bid for Dutch bank ABN AMRO as it attempts to beat rival suitor Barclays to the biggest ever bank takeover.

The consortium, which also includes Spain's Santander and Belgian-Dutch group Fortis, said the initial offer period would run from July 23 until October 5.

India's ICICI Bank net rises 25 pct, meets forecast

(Reuters) - A Reuters poll of 10 brokerages and analysts had forecast
24.6 percent rise in net profit to 7.7 billion rupees.




Total income for the quarter was 92.81 billion rupees, up
from 60.49 billion rupees a year ago.
