(Reuters) - Nestle said on Thursday the deal would give its growing nutrition division -- which includes infant formula, baby food, medical nutrition, weight management and performance nutrition -- annual sales of around 10 billion Swiss francs .

Oil below $62, shrugs off U.S. gasoline stock drop
(Reuters) - U.S. crude was down 8 cents at $61.93 a barrel by 0352 GMT, after a 12-cent gain on Wednesday. London Brent had yet to trade ahead of its expiry on Friday, after closing at $67.84 on Wednesday.
The latest snapshot of U.S. inventory levels showed that gasoline stocks slid 5.5 million barrels last week, far more than a 1.4 million-barrel drop analysts had forecast and taking stocks nearly 5 percent below the same time last year .

Emerging debt-Market rock solid despite Fed minutes
(Reuters) - Brazil's global bond due 2040 , considered the emerging market benchmark paper due to its high liquidity, eased 0.187 to bid 134.688 and to yield 5.710 percent.

Kennedy seeks US SEC probe of student loan deals

S.African bank stocks slip, G.Fields jumps on rumour
(Reuters) - South African shares fell on Wednesday from the previous days highs as investors dumped bank stocks ahead of Thursday's interest rate decision, but shares in Gold Fields leapt on a take over rumour.

Stolt-Nielsen says faces EU antitrust measures

Apollo to buy Xstrata aluminum unit
(Reuters) - Xstrata acquired the aluminum business through its purchase of Canadian miner Falconbridge last year and had been conducting a review to decide whether to use it as a platform to build a bigger aluminum operation or sell it.

IMF says euro zone growth picking up

UPDATE 1-United Airlines to add $10 surcharge on LA flights
(Reuters) - In December, Los Angeles World Airports raised the rent for all LAX airlines to finance airport upgrades. United, the largest airline at LAX, said it would pay an additional $10 million annually and that it believed the increase was in clear violation of its long-term lease agreement with LAWA.
United, a unit of UAL Corp. , said it had joined several other airlines in a lawsuit against LAWA. A spokesman for LAWA was not immediately available for comment.

Amgen to delay profit report to include trial data

IMF: Risks to global growth smaller but remain
(Reuters) - In its semiannual checkup of the world economy, the IMF played down threats from a housing-induced U.S. slowdown, concerns over increased volatility in the financial markets, and the possibility that inflation pressures could resurface if oil prices spike again.

(Reuters) - LONDON, April 11 - Moody's Investors Service cut its ratings late on Tuesday on 44, mainly European banks after it revised its joint default analysis methodology, which had come under intense criticism in its original form. As expected, Icelandic banks Glitnir , Kaupthing and Landsbanki received three-notch cuts to Aa3 from Aaa. Twelve banks were downgraded by two notches and the remainder by just one notch.

T.Italia's list of contenders narrows, shrs fall
(Reuters) - MILAN, April 11 - The number of potential bidders for Telecom Italia narrowed after no new major shareholders emerged late on Tuesday, sending shares of Europe's No. 5 telecoms group lower in Milan on Wednesday. Shares of Telecom Italia fell 1.4 percent to 2.35 euros at 0739 GMT in Milan, underperforming the S&P/MIB index , down 0.1 percent.
Following a request by Italy's bourse regulator Consob, most of Telecom Italia's top shareholders said their stakes were unchanged despite intense trading in the stock last week when 20 percent of the capital exchanged hands.

New Century seeks faster sale of loan business
(Reuters) - New Century wants to sell its loan origination business by early May and sees an "exigent and immediate need" to set up bidding procedures, according to a late Monday filing with the U.S. bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Irvine, California-based company previously said it planned to sell major assets within 45 days of its April 2 bankruptcy filing, or around May 17.

IMF warns: Financial market risks have increased
(Reuters) - The stability of the global financial system is being bolstered by favorable economic conditions, but some financial market risks have crept up in recent months, the International Monetary Fund said on Tuesday.
"Global economic conditions have been supportive of a benign financial environment, but underlying risks and conditions have shifted somewhat since ... September 2006, and have the potential to weaken financial stability," the IMF said in its semi-annual Global Financial Stability Report.

FTSE dips as miners mixed; oils support
(Reuters) - The FTSE 100 of Britain's leading shares edged down 0.1 percent on Wednesday as mixed news for mining stocks saw the sector feature heavily, while oils also supported.
Anglo-Swiss miner Xstrata tacked on 0.7 percent after it said it was selling its aluminium business to private equity firm Apollo Management for $1.15 billion cash.
