Bank of England Makes `Nice' With Economy on Anniversary of Independence

(Bloomberg) -- Governor Mervyn King says the times since his Bank of England gained independence from British politics have ranged from ``not so bad'' to ``NICE.''

He isn't being dismissive. To the contrary, ``NICE'' is his acronym for ``Non-Inflationary Consistent Expansion'' -- putting it another way, the longest stretch of economic growth in 200 years.
