U.S. Stocks Retreat on Earnings, Mortgage Concerns; Intel, Financials Fall

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks fell after Intel
Corp.'s earnings report spurred concern profit estimates for
computer companies are too high and Bear Stearns Cos. said the
subprime mortgage crisis wiped out investors in two of its
hedge funds.

Intel, the world's biggest chipmaker, declined the most
since January and led the Dow Jones Industrial Average lower
for the first time in six days. Financial shares posted the
steepest drop in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index after Bear
Stearns said investors in the funds may not get any money back.

U.S. Stocks Gain for a Second Week; S&P 500 Rises Most Since April on M&A

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks advanced, giving the
Standard & Poor's 500 Index its biggest weekly gain since April,
propelled by $50 billion in announced takeovers and reports that
signaled economic growth is accelerating.

Hilton Hotels Corp. had the top advance in the S&P 500
after agreeing to a $20 billion buyout by Blackstone Group LP, a
record purchase for the hotel industry. Exxon Mobil Corp., the
world's largest oil company, surged to an all-time peak and
helped push the Dow Jones Industrial Average higher after crude
prices jumped above $72 a barrel.

Mexico's Peso, Local Currency Bonds Gain as Demand for Risk Increases

(Bloomberg) -- Mexico's peso and local-currency
bonds rose, reversing earlier declines, after gains in U.S.
stocks showed investor demand for riskier assets is recovering.

Mexico's 20-year bond rose for the first time in six days
after a rally in oil raised the earnings prospects for energy
companies in the U.S. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the
Standard & Poor's 500 stock indexes rose. Oil, Mexico's biggest
export and a source of almost 40 percent of government revenue,
increased 1.8 percent to $68.96 a barrel.

U.S. Stocks Erase Gain; Financial Shares Lead Retreat on Subprime Concern

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks declined, erasing a
rally, after financial shares tumbled on speculation losses will
worsen on loans tied to subprime mortgages.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 5.1, or 0.3 percent,
to 1497.46 at 2:46 p.m. in New York. Earlier, the gauge rose 0.8
percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 19.68, or 0.2
percent, to 13,340.58. The Nasdaq Composite Index declined 12.6,
or 0.5 percent, to 2576.36.

U.S. Stocks Rise for 7th Week on Stake Disclosures, Record Takeover Pace

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks extended their longest
stretch of weekly gains since 2004 after some of the world's most
successful investors boosted their holdings in banks, drugmakers
and railroads and a record pace of takeovers was extended.

Citigroup Inc. led the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its
24th record this year after billionaire investor Edward Lampert
disclosed an $800 million stake in the largest U.S. bank. Health-
care shares rallied after Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway
Inc. almost doubled its investment in Johnson & Johnson. Carl
Icahn joined Buffett in acquiring railroad shares by building a
position in CSX Corp., the third-largest U.S. railroad.

US STOCKS-Wall St indexes drop at open on China

(Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average was down 66.24 points, or 0.52 percent, at 12,737.60. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 6.61 points, or 0.45 percent, at 1,465.89. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 17.96 points, or 0.72 percent, at 2,492.54.

US STOCKS-Blue chips open higher on CPI, profits

(Reuters) - But rising crude oil prices and a report showing industrial production unexpectedly fell in March restrained gains in the broad market.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 14.62 points, or 0.11 percent, at 12,735.08. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 1.00 point, or 0.07 percent, at 1,469.47. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 1.44 points, or 0.06 percent, at 2,516.89.
