Icahn raises Temple-Inland stake to 8.3 percent

(Reuters) - Temple-Inland's recent proxy statement showed that Icahn
held a 6.7 percent stake with more than 7.2 million shares as
of March 27.

Asian Stocks Rise the Most in Three Months on Takeovers; Posco, BHP Climb

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose the most in three
months, spurred by Rio Tinto Group's $38 billion bid for Alcan
Inc. and higher sales at U.S. retailers.

Posco surged by the most in four years and BHP Billiton Ltd.
climbed following Rio's offer. Samsung Electronics Co. jumped
after reporting better-than-expected earnings and a newspaper
said billionaire investor Carl Icahn may be planning a hostile
bid. South Korea's Kospi index, the region's best performer in
the past three months, advanced 2.8 percent to a new high.

UPDATE 1-Investor Carl Icahn says LBO boom has "peaked"

(Reuters) - "They've had a walk in the park for years, but now
shareholders are waking up to the fact that we're not going to
sell it to you so cheap," Icahn told a "Deals and Dealmakers"
conference sponsored by Dow Jones, referring to LBO firms that
take companies private. "And interest rates could start
creeping up."




Icahn, who is known for pressuring companies for strategic
and management changes, said "I think it's peaked," referring
to the private equity boom.

UPDATE 3-Lear delays vote on Icahn takeover after criticism

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 22 - Lear Corp. , which has
faced criticism for accepting billionaire Carl Icahn's
$36-per-share buyout offer, delayed a shareholder vote on the
deal until July 12, the auto parts maker said on Friday.




Lear shareholders had been scheduled to vote on the nearly
$2.9 billion offer from Icahn's American Real Estate Partners
on June 27.

U.S. Stocks Rise for 7th Week on Stake Disclosures, Record Takeover Pace

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks extended their longest
stretch of weekly gains since 2004 after some of the world's most
successful investors boosted their holdings in banks, drugmakers
and railroads and a record pace of takeovers was extended.

Citigroup Inc. led the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its
24th record this year after billionaire investor Edward Lampert
disclosed an $800 million stake in the largest U.S. bank. Health-
care shares rallied after Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway
Inc. almost doubled its investment in Johnson & Johnson. Carl
Icahn joined Buffett in acquiring railroad shares by building a
position in CSX Corp., the third-largest U.S. railroad.
