(Reuters) - LONDON, April 23 - British Airways Plc said on Monday it has approached a number of private equity companies about making a consortium takeover bid for Spanish airline Iberia .
BA, which owns a 10 percent holding in Iberia, said in a statement that it had ruled out making an independent bid for the airline.
