TREASURIES-After dip on ISM, safety bid lifts bonds

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 2 - U.S. Treasury debt prices
briefly slipped on Monday, reacting to a somewhat stronger than
expected reading on the U.S. manufacturing sector, then quickly
erased those minor losses as a safety bid provided support.




The Institute for Supply Management said its manufacturing
index rose to 56.0 in June from 55.0 in May, slightly firmer
than Wall Street had forecast.

Platinum Falls From Two-Week High as Dollar Strengthens; Palladium Rises

(Bloomberg) -- Platinum fell from a two-week high in
New York as a stronger U.S. dollar reduced the metal's appeal as
a hedge against inflation. Palladium gained.

The dollar rose against the euro and traded near a four-year
high versus the yen earlier today on speculation that a report on
U.S. manufacturing will show economic growth is picking up from
the slowest pace in four years. The metal, which is mostly traded
in the dollar, generally moves in the opposite direction of the
U.S. currency.

US STOCKS-Indexes gain as data lifts economic outlook

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 1 - U.S. stocks rose on Friday,
pushing the Dow industrials to an all-time high, as reports
pointing to a recovering economy, including
stronger-than-expected job growth, lifted optimism about the
outlook for profits.




The number of payroll jobs created by employers in May
outstripped Wall Street's forecasts. Data on U.S. manufacturing
and consumer sentiment also rose more than forecast.
