UPDATE 1-Hudson City profit dips; sets share buyback

(Reuters) - Net income for the Paramus-based parent of Hudson City
Savings Bank fell to $72.7 million from $73.2 million a year
earlier. Profit per share rose to 14 cents from 13 cents
because the company had fewer shares outstanding.




Analysts on average forecast profit of 14 cents per share,
according to Reuters Estimates. Hudson City said it will buy
back up to 51.4 million shares, or 10 percent of its stock, and
boosted its quarterly common stock dividend 6 percent to 8.5
cents per share.

Wipro's First-Quarter Profit Rises by 16 Percent After Winning New Orders

(Bloomberg) -- Wipro Ltd., India's third-largest
computer-services provider, had the slowest profit growth in more
than two years after the rupee's 6.8 percent gain against the
dollar in the first quarter eroded earnings in its biggest market.

Net income climbed 16 percent to 7.11 billion rupees ($176
million), or 4.87 rupees a share, for the three months ended
June 30, from 6.14 billion rupees, or 4.28 rupees, a year
earlier, Wipro said today. Profit missed the 7.44 billion rupee
median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of nine analysts. Sales
rose 34 percent to 41.83 billion rupees.

Polaris profit beats Wall St view as margins rise

(Reuters) - Net income rose to $22.7 million, or 62 cents per share, from $20.6 million, or 48 cents per share, a year earlier.




Profit from continuing operations came to 62 cents per share, topping analysts' average forecast of 58 cents as compiled by Reuters Estimates.

UPDATE 1-KeyCorp net rises 8 percent on fee income growth

(Reuters) - Net income for the Cleveland-based company rose to $334
million, or 84 cents per share, from $308 million, or 75 cents
a share, a year earlier.




Profit from continuing operations rose 11 percent to $337
million, or 85 cents per share, from $303 million, or 74 cents
per share.

Hainan Air Says Profit Probably Rose More Than Eightfold on Cheaper Fuel

(Bloomberg) -- Hainan Airlines Co., a Chinese
carrier backed by U.S. billionaire George Soros, said first-half
profit probably surged more than eightfold on lower jet-fuel
prices and a stronger yuan.

Net income in the six months ended June 30 likely jumped
more than 750 percent, the Haikou, Hainan island-based company
said in a Shanghai stock exchange statement today, without
elaboration. Profit in the first half of 2006 totaled 20.8
million yuan ($2.7 million).

$21.59. The maker of plastics used in steering wheels cut its

A. Schulman Inc. (SHLM US) fell $2.46, or 10 percent, to
$21.50 in trading yesterday after the official close of U.S.
exchanges. The maker of plastics used in steering wheels cut its
2007 forecast, citing unexpected weakness in Europe and North
America. Profit this year will be $17 million to $23 million,
lower than an earlier estimate of as much as $30 million.

Texas Instruments Retreats and Take-Two Climbs: U.S. After-Hours Trading

(Bloomberg) -- Texas Instruments Inc. fell in
extended U.S. trading after the world's biggest maker of mobile-
phone chips said second-quarter sales and profit will be below
its highest estimates.

Shares of the Dallas, Texas-based company dropped 70 cents,
or 2 percent, to $35.09 as of 5:47 p.m. in New York. Texas
Instruments said sales will be $3.36 billion to $3.51 billion.
That compares with an April estimate of $3.32 billion to $3.6
billion. Profit will be 40 cents to 44 cents a share, excluding
some costs, compared with an earlier forecast of 39 cents to 45
cents.

RBS H1 earnings to beat forecasts

(Reuters) - It said costs as a ratio of income should improve from the 2006 level of 42.1 percent.




RBS said last week it should beat analysts' forecasts for first-half underlying earnings. Profit before tax and exceptional items is expected to be 10.3 billion pounds in 2007, up 9 percent from 9.4 billion in 2006, according to a Reuters Estimates average forecast from 11 analysts.

Royal Bank of Scotland H1 earnings to beat f/casts

(Reuters) - RBS, Britain's second biggest bank, said in a trading update on Tuesday that its UK retail markets unit would show a "modest reduction" in impairment losses in the six months to the end of June, while its cost/income ratio should improve from the 2006 level.
