Ford aims to sell Land Rover, Jaguar by Sept.30-NYT

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, Aug 3 - Ford Motor Co is hoping to have a tentative deal to sell its Land Rover and Jaguar operations by Sept. 30, and a pact to dispose of Volvo by year end, The New York Times reported on its Web site on Friday.



The auto maker's advisers have begun putting together information that bidders want for Land Rover and Jaguar, the paper said, citing unnamed sources.

Fidelity chief says daughter may not run company-NYT

(Reuters) - Johnson's daughter now reports to that former Prudential
executive, Rodger Lawson, 60, which would seem to push her
further from the chief executive spot.




Ned Johnson told The New York Times in an article published
on Sunday, "I would expect the family would continue to play a
critical role in leading Fidelity."

New York Times coverage tiptoes around owner - NYT editor

(Reuters) - Hoyt said today's New York Times is caught in unprecedented
changes in an industry where readers are flocking to the Internet
and advertising revenue is tumbling for print editions across the
country. The Bancroft family, owners of Wall Street Journal
publisher Dow Jones & Co. Inc. , likely will sell to
Murdoch, even though some members think he'll bring his tabloid
heart to the pages of the financial news icon.




Hoyt said the Times has covered the Bancroft-Murdoch saga
aggressively.

Doctor told FDA of Glaxo's Avandia risk in 2000

(Reuters) - The FDA sent Glaxo a warning letter in July 2001 after its
own monitoring, saying the company's sales representatives had
played down safety concerns and asking the company to send out a
letter to doctors warning them of the risks.




The company sent out the letters on Sept. 6, 2001, according
to an article in the New York Times, which first reported the
story.
