U.K. Electricity Prices for September Rises as Natural-Gas Costs Increase

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. power for delivery in September
rose as the cost of natural gas increased. Electricity for the
next working day was unchanged, maintaining a premium over
corresponding prices in France.

U.K. power for delivery in September increased 2.3 percent
to 26.50 pounds ($53.72) a megawatt-hour, according to prices on
Bloomberg from the broker GFI Group Inc. The contract traded at a
record-high 26.75 pounds a megawatt-hour on July 23.

German 2008 Power Trades at 12-Week Low as Carbon-Emission Costs Decline

(Bloomberg) -- German electricity for delivery next
year fell to the lowest in more than 12 weeks as a reduction in
carbon-emission permit prices cut the cost of power generation at
plants that burn fossil fuels.

Next-year baseload power prices in Germany, Europe's biggest
electricity market, dropped as much as 0.2 percent to 54.60 euros
($75.30) a megawatt-hour, according to broker GFI Group Inc. The
contract was unchanged from yesterday at 54.70 euros a megawatt-
hour at 9:45 a.m. Berlin time. That's the lowest since April 24.
Baseload refers to electricity delivered around the clock.

U.K. Power Drops on Lower Natural Gas Prices, Cheaper French Electricity

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. power for delivery a day ahead
declined as the cost of natural gas and French electricity fell.

Day-ahead baseload power for delivery in the U.K. dropped
6.1 percent to 23 pounds ($46.36) a megawatt hour at 8:29 a.m.
in London, according to prices on Bloomberg from the energy
broker GFI Group Inc.

U.K. Power Rises on Forecast Spare Capacity to Fall; French Imports Likely

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. power for delivery on the next
working day rose as forecasts showed a likely decline in spare
capacity that may mean more-expensive generation is required to
meet demand.

U.K. working-day-ahead baseload power increased 11 percent to
24.60 pounds ($48.46) a megawatt hour, according to prices on
Bloomberg from the energy broker GFI Group Inc. The last traded
price yesterday for power delivered today was 22.25 pounds a
megawatt hour.

working day fell as the expected volume of spare generation
capacity gained and natural-gas costs dropped.

Group Inc. Baseload power is delivered round the clock.

U.K. Month-Ahead Electricty Price Climbs as Cost of Natural Gas Increases

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. electricity for delivery next
month increased as the cost of natural gas rose and the day-
ahead power price gained.

Baseload power for June advanced 1.9 percent to 24.25
pounds ($47.83) a megawatt-hour, according to prices on
Bloomberg from the energy broker GFI Group Inc. Baseload
electricity is delivered around the clock.
