BA profit rise beats forecasts, warns on revenues

(Reuters) - LONDON, Aug 3 - British Airways posted a 28 percent rise in quarterly operating profit on Friday to beat analysts' forecasts, but warned a weak dollar and soaring fuel prices would slow full-year revenue growth and raise costs.



Earnings before interest and taxes for the three months to end-June rose to 263 million pounds , BA said in a statement to the London Stock Exchange.

Angola rescinds British Airways permit - BA spokesman

(Reuters) - Angola's civil aviation authority has rescinded British Airways' permit to fly into the southwestern African nation, a spokesman for the airline said on Monday.

"We were informed on Friday by the Angolan CAA that it had rescinded BA's seasonal operating permit with immediate effect," BA spokesman Richard Goodfellow said. BA operates one return flight a week between London and Luanda.

U.K.'s FTSE 100 Index Climbs, Led by Vedanta, BHP; British Airways Rises

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks climbed, led by Vedanta
Resources Plc and BHP Billiton Ltd. after copper prices rallied
in London on concern strikes will disrupt production.

British Airways Plc rose after Standard & Poor's lifted its
credit rating for the airline. Man Group Plc climbed after
posting an increase in assets for its AHL fund.

U.K. FTSE 100 Index Drops, Paced by British Airways; Ryanair Shares Slide

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks dropped for a second day,
paced by British Airways Plc and EasyJet Plc after Irish rival
Ryanair Holdings Plc said fiscal 2008 profit will grow at the
slowest rate in four years.

Land Securities Plc led real-estate companies lower for a
second day. Standard Life Plc and Old Mutual Plc advanced after
Merrill Lynch & Co. recommended investors buy the shares.
