(Reuters) - The Bovespa index of the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange
rose 0.47 percent to 56,195 points. The index passed the 56,000
mark for the first time on Wednesday.
The Brazilian currency, the real , strengthened 0.52
percent to 1.904 per U.S. dollar.
